Opera Releases a Preview of Opera Mini 4.2

Opera today released a preview of Opera Mini 4.2, the newest version of the world's most popular mobile Web browser that works on almost every mobile phone.

With this beta release, Opera celebrates Opera Mini being the browser of choice for more than 20 million unique monthly users worldwide. Sprint Offers Instant Links to Mobile Information with 2D Barcode Solution from Scanbuy

We're all familiar with barcodes seen on just about any product imaginable - they make checkouts faster in grocery stores and often eliminate the need for individual price tags. Now a new type of barcode can make life simpler for Sprint customers seeking information.

2D barcodes are simple, black and white images, but each one is packed with a unique interactive experience in the form of data, Web links, MP3s, video streams, personal profiles and more. Sprint today announced that customers can use select Sprint phones to instantly unlock valuable information from 2D barcodes with the launch of ScanLife from Scanbuy, Inc., a global leader in mobile marketing solutions.

Barcodes give quick access to info and eliminate need to type in Web addresses: Picture a magazine ad with a 2D barcode in the lower right corner. Using the ScanLife application, Sprint customers can scan the barcode and be sent to a Web site on their Sprint phone that might contain pricing, availability and additional product information, and more.

Nimbuzz To Provide Social Networks Real Time Web & Mobile Communication

AT&T Announce Availability of HTC FUZE Smartphone

AT&T Inc. and HTC Corp. have announced the availability beginning today of the new smartphone HTC FUZE. The HTC FUZE provides users with a familiar QWERTY keyboard paired with HTC's intuitive, graphic-rich TouchFLO 3D touch-screen user interface for easy one-touch access to a range of fun and powerful features.

AOL’s Platform-A to Deliver Two-Day, Billion Impression Ad Campaign for T-Mobile

AOL’s Platform-A today announced that it will launch, in partnership with T-Mobile USA, an unprecedented billion-impression Web advertising campaign across Platform-A during a two-day period on November 10 – 11. The first-of-its-kind advertising buy underscores Platform-A’s ability to reach more U.S. online consumers – more than 90% — than any other online advertising business. Platform-A includes AOL’s owned-and-operated sites, along with the thousands of sites in the Advertising.com third-party network.

Platform-A and T-Mobile collaborated to create the “T-Mobile Billion Block,” the most-expansive two-day ad buy in Platform-A history and will spotlight the T-Mobile G1 with Google, the first Android-powered mobile phone.

Over a two-day period, the T-Mobile G1 will dominate a significant amount of AOL and other Platform-A inventory, and it’s estimated that approximately 81.5 million consumers will be exposed to the exciting new phone over the campaign’s 48-hour run.

AT&T Announce Availability of the AT&T Quickfire

AT&T Inc. today announced the availability of the AT&T Quickfire, the final of four new quick messaging mobile phones designed to make messaging faster and easier than ever before. The Quickfire was developed for AT&T by Personal Communications Devices LLC (PCD).

Canada’s Solo Mobile Announces New Rate Plans & Smartphones

Canada's Solo Mobile announced several enhancements to its high-value monthly rate plans and two cool new smartphones to meet the needs of Canadians seeking the most affordable wireless options available.

Available starting tomorrow until December 31, four new Unbeatable plans now offer clients rates starting at $15 per month for both local calling and text messaging. Clients on Unbeatable plans can pay just $5 a month to share minutes and get unlimited local and Canada-wide long distance calling as well as unlimited texting with up to four family and friends on the same account. Higher-end plans also include unlimited incoming calls.

These plans include per-second billing, call waiting and 3-way calling. Solo Mobile will waive System Access Fee and e911 service charges on these plans for clients who select two-year contracts.  Also available until December 31, new Solo in the City plans are perfect for chatty urbanites.

AT&T to acquire Privately-Held Wi-Fi Provider - Wayport, Inc.

AT&T Inc. announced today that it has agreed, through one of its subsidiaries, to acquire privately-held Wayport, Inc., a leading provider of managed Wi-Fi services in the United States, for approximately $275 million in cash.

The deal adds Wayport’s focused capabilities and enterprise customer portfolio with AT&T’s leading Internet Protocol (IP) and 3G networks, and broad consumer and business customer bases, to deliver enhanced broadband connectivity at home, in the office, on the road, and virtually anywhere in between.

The acquisition expands the AT&T Wi-FiSM footprint to nearly 20,000 domestic hotspots, takes the company’s global Wi-Fi presence to more than 80,000 locations, and creates thousands of new ways for customers worldwide to stay in touch. Millions of AT&T customers – plus millions of other consumers needing to connect on the go – will benefit from access to new hotspot locations served by Wayport.
